    Description

Vintage Standard Formaldehyde Tin Metal Measuring Advertising Cup - Whittal Can
For display purposes only...  This is a hard to find 2 oz. tin cup for measuring formaldehyde
    when preparing a fungicide spray.
It has instructions for mixing with various quantities of water.
Great antique addition for your collection.
Here's a bit about the can company to help date this item. I've seen the brightly colored example of this measuring
tin, but it was made after the company merged with Continental.  I believe that makes this can older and much harder to find.
"A 1920 hardware catalogue published at Toronto mentioned the A. R. Whittall Can Co. Ltd.
They made printed (lithographed) metal honey tins, which they referred to as "packages" when they manufactured them. There is an example at
Grey Roots Museum, that was used by an Owen Sound apiary business (Howell & Watson).
There is a unilingual "Pure Honey" tin, with a 4 pounds and 8 ounces capacity, printed with "THE WHITTALL CAN CO. LTD."
There is also a bilingual honey tin, Copyright 1928, that had a 4 pound and 8 ounce capacity. It was used by Showell & Howell at Owen Sound.
The Continental Can Company of Canada was officially incorporated in September, 1935. This company had purchased the A. R. Whittall Can
Company of Montreal, and opened a new factory in Toronto (in May, 1936). "
