    Description

    This is a RARE bloodletting instrument. It's a Baunscheidt's Lebenswecker (1850-1900).
The long handle of the hollow tube contained a coiled spring which, when pushed,
punctured the skin with 30 sharp needles. This device was primarily used as a
counter-irritant. According to medical theory of the time, by producing a new inflammation,
the blood was sidetracked from diseased areas. It is 11" long in original box.
It is marked J. LINDEN, CLEVELAND, O. Now for some fun information!
The Resuscitator is in itself a representative of an entire apothecary; for it acts as a
tepefactors, a reviver, an aperient, and a regulator of the circulation of the blood.
Rheumatic pains, headaches, toothache, cramps, asthma, Quinsy, etc. Must yield
to it forthwith. Diseases of the eye and ear, stiffness of the joints, tetters, jaundice,
hemorrhoids, green-sickness, Gout in all its forms, Inflammation of the throat, syphilis,
and etc. are certainly and safely cured. In all such cases as Apoplexy, inflammation
of the brain and pheumonia, colic, typhus fever, cholera, yellow fever, asphyxin etc.
Where no time is left for consultation, but instant relief must be secured, the
    Resuscitator proves itself a Life-Preserver.
My husband passed away a few years back and this is from his collection. I'm trying
to add a few each week to ebay, but I've said that before. Thank you.
